bbbonline launched On July 8, 2004 Senator for Victoria Judith Troeth launched the 'Building A Better Business' bbbonline pilot at Sovereign Hill in Ballarat. The launch was attended by a wide range of tourism industry representatives and regional tourism operators. The pilot is a capacity building and business skills development program for small and micro tourism operators to enhance their business skills and become accredited. The program aims to create tourism businesses that are professional in their approach and generate consumer confidence. The pilot was developed by the Centre for Regional Innovation & Competitiveness (CRIC) at the University of Ballarat in conjunction with the Better Business Tourism Accreditation Program administered by the Tourism Accreditation Board of Victoria. |
Help is here for small tourism businesses The learning program is designed to lead to formal tourism accreditation under the Better Business Tourism Accreditation Program (BBTAP), but may also be accessed on an informal or needs basis. The program offers up-to date, industry- related information which is needed to make your tourism business a success. The learning segments include: defining your business, meeting your business compliance (licenses and permits), getting insurance, completing business marketing and communications plan; customer service and business operating systems; human resources, risk management, economic sustainability and financial systems, environmental and social sustainability. Smart forms link you directly into online resources and sites to help you complete the documentation and gain the latest information and knowledge. The program is available online or take home via a CD-ROM and is supplemented by workshop and technical support. The program will run until July 2005 and concludes with an action- learning seminar to bring together all those involved in the program to share learning experiences. bbbonline workshops Why should I attend a workshop? hotlink to workshops Workshops will help speed up your learning and accreditation process. Workshops are designed to familiarise you with the learning materials and teach you how to access materials via CD-ROM and online. Workshops will be held regularly throughout the Goldfields region until July 2005 and you may enrol in any workshops at any location. Who can participate in the bbbonline workshops? Small businesses operating in the tourism industry in the Goldfields region of Victoria What is needed to participate in the bbbonline workshop? The only participation requirement is a half day or evening of your time. Refreshments are served at all workshops. How much does it cost to participate in the bbbonline workshops? Participation cost in the pilot program is $140 per operator. The fee includes all support materials to assist operators to complete all 14 sections of accreditation program requirements, but does not include the cost of becoming accredited. However, operators that apply for and achieve (or renew) accreditation as part of the pilot program are eligible for a range of incentives and financial benefits from their local tourism office and the Better Business Tourism Accreditation Program. |
